Vintage Guitar Amp Price Guide

I always had such a passion for music and I think if you have that drive and love for music and you can see yourself going far with it then there is nothing stopping you achieving your musical goals.

Vintage Guitar Amp Price Guide

It was a different world when I began playing, the internet was in its infancy, it was 1991 and I was just 9 years old. The first guitar I owned was a dirt cheap classical guitar with action so high it would have been very difficult for me to play it now. This is the first very important thing to bear in mind when starting, make sure you get a guitar you can play the thing. By that I mean simply make sure that you feel you can get your hands around it and fret (press down) the notes easily. A lot of cheap guitars have very high action (which is the height and tension of the strings), which makes it ten times harder to play and get started as you will struggle to even play basic chords without sweating blood. The best tip is to go to a few guitar shops and try a variety of guitars, even if you cannot play a lick its still advisable to try and luck a few notes and get a feel for it. Remember that you are buying something that you are going to spend hours playing and its really important to get something you will be able to jell with.

The nest thing to think about is how you are going to learn. Are you going to get lessons or try and teach yourself? Well my advise is its important to do both. Three things will be your teacher, Yourself a good guitar teacher and time. Your local yellow pages will contain a bunch of local teachers, or better yet just Google them. The most important thing about finding a good guitar teacher is getting one that will teach YOU. By that I mean avoid anyone who just uses one book to teach all their students. This a is terrible teaching practice and a complete waste of time and money. A good teacher will adapt their teaching to suit your style of learning and they will spend the first two lessons or so adapting to you and finding out just what works for you specifically and what you respond too.

Never feel like you are the only one that finds it hard, everyone struggles with one aspect of playing or other, but a good teacher will be able to filter out your strengths and weaknesses and teach for that. They must be able to give you confidence and inspire you and most importantly teach for YOU.

Once you are set with a guitar teacher I would recommend beginning with basic chord shapes, known as open chords. I would also recommend learning power chords if you are looking at playing guitar from a contemporary point of view as this chord type will be very often the same shape for the fingers and will simply change positions (change frets).
